De Vere Royal Bath, Bournemouth
The De Vere Royal Bath is a grand Victorian hotel in Bournemouth, set right on the sea front, with luxurious rooms and panoramic views across The Channel. This was the first Hotel in Bournemouth opening on Queen Victoria’s Coronation day in June 1838. The Royal Bath was requisitioned during the Second World War and housed RAF officers and also senior staff from the Canadian army.
Having undergone many refurbishment projects over the years, De Vere bought this iconic hotel in 1963. In 1979 a huge fire destroyed a third of the hotel but the building was lovingly restored and has been operating as a luxury hotel ever since.
The en-suite bedrooms at Royal Bath, some sea facing with views of Bournemouth pier, combine traditional fittings and furnishings with every modern convenience you would expect from a hotel of this standing. So many restaurants to choose from – The Garden Restaurant, with a mouth watering a la carte menu and panoramic garden views serving from breakfast time to dinner, the intimate Oscar’s Restaurant, named after Oscar Wilde, serving divine classic British dishes , The Lounge, providing guests and locals with anything from light snacks ,beer or delicious cream teas or alternatively head off to Cafe Promenade,located in The Royal Club, for juices, light meals or drinks.
The Lounge, Oscar’s Bar and the Whisky snug are all open till late so pop in for a cheeky tipple bfore retiring to bed.
A visit to the spa is a must! Pamper yourself in the jacuzzi and steam room and then swim a few laps of the pool. Let the expert therapists massage all the stresses and strains away in one of their calming, soothing spa treatment rooms and be whisked away into another realm as you relax on a comfortable lounger. Feeling energetic? Take a visit to the state of the art gym or book into one of the Aqua Aerobics classes.
