What does it look like?
You approach via a long driveway through the championship Five Lakes Golf course until you reach a modern, contemporary building with breathtaking views of the countryside. It has also the benefit of a huge complimentary car park. What happens when you get there?
We entered a spacious welcoming Reception area where the friendly Reception staff checked us in and took our bags up to our room. What do the bed rooms look like?
The bedrooms are large, modern, light and airy with a large en suite bathroom with walk in shower and separate bath. It has amazing views over the golf course and grounds. What was the food like?
We ate a delicious 3 course dinner in the Brasserie, which has a great comfortable, informal atmosphere. The menu offers International cuisine with a distinctive British twist - we recommend the crispy duck as starter and the lamb shanks for the main. It was cooked to perfection and the meat melted in your mouth! But do not forget to indulge in their great selection of yummy puddings - try their legendary sundaes. What were the Spa Facilities like?
The spa facilities are light and airy, boasting a fantastic large pool with overlooking huge jacuzzi. It also has a great steam room and sauna and lots of luxury loungers to laze on.What were the treatments like?
The treatment room was welcoming and ambient. There was gentle spa music playing and it was lit with aromatic candles. So soothing! I had an algae wrap, one of the most relaxing detox treatments. It started with a full body brush and exfoliation, followed by an application of a rich warm algae then finally I was wrapped up in a special foil and towels. Whilst the algae was doing its magic to regenerate my skin I was given a heavenly head massage. Afterwards I showered off in the ensuite shower room inside the spa treatment room. I felt totally cleansed and energised. All of the girls in my party thoroughly enjoyed their massages and facials and also the Reflexology treatment was a great hit! In conclusion Five Lakes Hotel is an all rounder for all people of all ages. There are several sports that you can take part in including tennis, squash, golf, badminton and pool. This venue will definitely be receiving a return visit in the not too distant future. This is a list of customer reviews for Crowne Plaza Resort Colchester – Five Lakes, Essex. October 26, 2010 at 3:15 pmThe hotel was very nice, the rooms were tidy and presented well, there was plenty to do in and around the complex, spa treatments were amazing, the pool was very spacious and relaxing. The hotel itself is very grand with plenty of activities to do.
Outside the complex if you like walks you have Abberton nature walk or the coast at Mersea about 5 minutes away.
Also if you like a game of golf as I did 5 lakes has two courses links and the lakes. The lakes is a good test of golf and has good pedigree as Sir Nick Faldo opened the course in the 1990′s.
A enjoyable break was had and I would recommend it to anyone.

May 25, 2011 at 10:25 amI wanted to go somewhere where my husband and I could spend some quality time together and really relax on our first wedding anniversary and I have to say that five lakes was the perfect place.
Our room was really lovely and even had a little balcony overlooking the golf course which was a nice place for morning tea. The food in the brasserie was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed and the staff friendly and attentive.
We both had a couple of treatments at the spa which were very nice.
I only have one very minor complaint and that is the fact that we were not left slippers which meant wearing shoes with the robes when we went down to the spa.
Overall a lovely place and I am going back later in the year with my mum.

I would highly reccomend Five Lakes, the hotel was very well presented with friendly staff. Dinner was fab with a variety of different choices! I had an extremely satsifying time and will definately be returning in the summer when its much warmer to look around the surrounding areas! 5 out of 5 from me!
